GRVT ( @grvt_io ) has been sitting in my tabs for a while now — mainly because of the trick “no KYC, just trading”. Self-custody of assets, just need an email, and the order is settled through zk proofs. That’s the whole appeal, right… trade like a CEX, custody like a DEX.
But then I actually dug into the token part and had to stop. Currently — the window opened on 10/7 at 06:00 UTC, closes on 17/7 — there’s a Multiplier Plan option running for $GRVT. If you miss it, you’ll fall back to the standard allocation, with no boost. And to even receive tokens at TGE, KYC is mandatory. Meanwhile, the exchange itself has trading volume of $1.39B in the last 24h and open interest of $352M today, mostly from people who haven’t verified anything before.
So the trader who solves GRVT’s “real” problem — executing without custody risk — doesn’t automatically end up being the best rewarded. The reward layer goes through a compliance gate that the trading layer intentionally tries to dodge. Pretty funny when you see it.
I’ll admit, I almost skipped the multiplier step, thinking it was just noise… then realized default-plan users receive significantly less. A small mistake, found late.
It’s not “wrong” in the strict sense, but — two different products are sharing the same name. Still not sure whether #grvt actually wants to be known because of which one in the long run.
