In an opinion piece, Erick, co-founder of Cartesi, believes that the industry needs to collaborate more to make the work of blockchain developers easier. Cartesi is a second-layer protocol based on Ethereum that is committed to simplifying blockchain development and promoting the development of modular blockchain infrastructure.
The blockchain industry is at a critical inflection point. Web3 lacks consumer applications that can achieve mass adoption, but new infrastructure projects continue to emerge. We have to face an unpleasant reality: 15 years later, our dream of a decentralized web has not yet been realized.

A brand-new CLI alpha version is now available, bringing significant improvements: configuration issues are detected before startup, so you don’t need to debug at runtime due to missing configuration. Head over to our Discord to get the relevant commands.
Devnet (development network) now supports withdrawals testing. This means you can verify the complete withdrawal flow before going live, and users can retrieve funds smoothly even if the app is terminated (foreclosed), avoiding unexpected situations. The `run` command now supports configuration files, and a compatibility fix ensures that the inspector endpoints work properly with the latest node version (node).
This 2.0.0-alpha.35 release is mainly aimed at core developers and testers—please share your feedback. The GitHub release page is below: → https://github.com/cartesi/cli/releases/tag/%40cartesi%2Fcli%402.0.0-alpha.35
The Rollups Explorer has also been updated to v2.0.0-alpha.3. The new version issues a warning before sending transactions to terminated apps, and adds a status indicator so users can see the app status at a glance. In addition, contributors recently deployed the latest alpha versions of the Rollups contracts and the PRT dispute resolution system on the Sepolia testnet. All contracts have been verified on Etherscan to ensure the interactions are fully transparent. Contract addresses have been published—you can use them directly.
Developers, please note: the address of `DaveAppFactory` varies by network, but all other components are deployed to the same address on all supported chains. You can get the deployment addresses in our Discord’s rollups channel: → discord.gg/cartesi
There’s another development this week: a contributor has published a demo application for a “Combinatorial Information Market” built on Cartesi. Real-world predictions aren’t isolated—inflation affects interest rates, elections shape policy. If a team wins its group stage, it can reshape the entire bracket. This demo uses Cartesi’s deterministic, reproducible reasoning to model these interrelated variables as a single probabilistic system.

The Rollups Node v2.0.0-alpha.12 version has been released. The main feature is emergency withdrawals. Now, Authority, Quorum, and PRT apps can deploy guardians and withdrawal output builders. Users can finally withdraw funds from paused apps and accounts that have been verified on-chain, achieving a fully trustless end-to-end process. The new CLI commands cover the full lifecycle, and the JSON-RPC has added ‘cartesi_listWithdrawals’ and ‘cartesi_getWithdrawal’ commands.
