He was born in Aydın in 1899. His father was İzmirli Katipzade İbrahim Ethem Bey, and his mother was Tevfika Hanım from the Aydınlı Hacı Alipaşazadeler family. Menderes does not remember his parents well as he lost them at a young age. In Aydın, he became a small but solitary landowner at the age of nine with the Çakırbeyli Farm inherited from his grandfather Hacı Ali Paşa.
Educational Life
Menderes started his school life at the İzmir Union and Progress School and continued his education at the İzmir American College. After being elected as a CHP Aydın deputy in 1931, he entered Ankara Law Faculty and graduated in 1935. Despite receiving reserve officer training, Menderes could not participate in World War I due to contracting malaria. He was deemed worthy of receiving the Independence Medal for his achievements during the War of Independence. He married Fatma Berin Hanım from one of İzmir's famous families in 1929, and they had three sons named Yüksel, Mutlu, and Aydın.
Political Life
Interestingly, Menderes's first political struggle began within the family. While Adnan Menderes had hesitations about entering politics due to farm work, on the other hand, his wife Berin Hanım was reluctant about Menderes's entry into politics.
