💥 Kidnapping in Voiron: a septuagenarian targeted to extort cryptocurrencies from his son

A particularly violent drama unfolded this weekend in Voiron where a seventy-four-year-old man was the target of a premeditated kidnapping at his home at dawn. The kidnappers acted with the explicit aim of extorting cryptocurrency funds from the victim's son, an expatriate who has been subjected to direct threats and a ransom demand after his father's abduction.

Given the complexity of the case and the organized nature of the crime, the specialized interregional jurisdiction of Lyon immediately took charge of the investigation.

Thanks to a rapid intervention by law enforcement, the septuagenarian was located and freed by the Lyon research and intervention brigade on the night from Sunday to Monday near Loriol. The operation led to the arrest of three suspects currently in police custody, while the victim, severely injured in the hand, has been taken care of in a hospital setting.

This case is part of a dark series of similar kidnappings targeting the relatives of holders of digital assets, reminding us of the increase in these brutal ransom methods in French territory since the beginning of the year.
