#BTCBTC: Why $42K-$47K Is My Cycle Low Target$BTC: Why $42K-$47K Is My Cycle Low Target A lot of people asked how I got to $42K-$47K as the bear market low range for Bitcoin this cycle. The logic is simple: Bitcoin has always dropped below its average holder cost basis, aka Realized Price, in every bear market. The Historical Pattern: Realized Price Drawdowns Realized Price = aggregate cost basis of all BTC moved on-chain. When price drops below it, the average holder is underwater. That’s been the “capitulation zone” every cycle. Here’s how deep BTC went below Realized Price in past bears: - 2011-2012: -61% below Realized Price - 2014-2015: -45% below - 2018-2019: -30% below - 2022: -24% to -30% below The trend: Each cycle, the drawdown below Realized Price gets shallower. The market is maturing, sell pressure is less violent, and buyers step in earlier. Applying It To This Cycle As of late 2026, Realized Price sits around $52.7K. If we assume the drawdown continues to shrink: - 10% below RP = $47.4K - 15% below RP = $44.8K - 20% below RP = $42.1K - 25% below RP = $39.5K - 30% below RP = $36.9K My base case is 10% to 20% below Realized Price, which gives the $42K-$47K zone. If we only match 2022’s -30% drawdown, the low would be $36.9K. But with institutions now heavily involved, a shallower drop is likely. Two Caveats That Could Change This 1. Front-running: Everyone has seen this data. If enough traders bid $45K expecting the low, the low might be $50K instead. Cycles don’t repeat, they rhyme. 2. Macro Correlation: BTC now trades with equities on red days. If the stock market corrects into the midterm elections like it historically does, we could still tag Realized Price or below. Timing & Strategy I don’t think the absolute low comes in Q4. Historically, final lows hit June to September - end of Q2 or Q3. Buying at $60K isn’t bad. I’m personally DCA’ing 2% of capital per week and expect we chop in the $60Ks for 16-20 weeks before the next leg. Goal: Get close to the bottom, not snipe it exactly. --- Quick notes: 1. Realized Price changes daily as coins move. Check Glassnode or CoinMetrics for current data. 2. This is not financial advice. Crypto is high risk. Only trade what you can afford to lose.

$BTC: Why $42K-$47K Is My Cycle Low Target
A lot of people asked how I got to $42K-$47K as the bear market low range for Bitcoin this cycle. The logic is simple: Bitcoin has always dropped below its average holder cost basis, aka Realized Price, in every bear market.
The Historical Pattern: Realized Price Drawdowns
Realized Price = aggregate cost basis of all BTC moved on-chain. When price drops below it, the average holder is underwater. That’s been the “capitulation zone” every cycle.
Here’s how deep BTC went below Realized Price in past bears:
- 2011-2012: -61% below Realized Price
- 2014-2015: -45% below
- 2018-2019: -30% below
- 2022: -24% to -30% below
The trend: Each cycle, the drawdown below Realized Price gets shallower. The market is maturing, sell pressure is less violent, and buyers step in earlier.
Applying It To This Cycle
As of late 2026, Realized Price sits around $52.7K. If we assume the drawdown continues to shrink:
- 10% below RP = $47.4K
- 15% below RP = $44.8K
- 20% below RP = $42.1K
- 25% below RP = $39.5K
- 30% below RP = $36.9K
My base case is 10% to 20% below Realized Price, which gives the $42K-$47K zone. If we only match 2022’s -30% drawdown, the low would be $36.9K. But with institutions now heavily involved, a shallower drop is likely.
