Yield Guild Games (YGG) is a gaming community focused on blockchain games with a play-to-earn model. It brings together users from all over the world who invest in NFT assets. Yield Guild Games' goal is to create a network of gamers and investors who help each other grow in the gaming NFT space.

Introduction

The popularity of Axie Infinity has contributed to the development and increased interest in blockchain games with a play-to-earn model. This trend interests users all over the planet, but many of them cannot afford NFTs, especially if they live in developing countries. The Yield Guild Games community unites play-to-earn players and helps them take their first steps into NFT games.

What is Yield Guild Games (YGG)?

Yield Guild Games (YGG) is a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) investing in non-fungible tokens (NFTs) used in blockchain games. Such games are part of a larger concept known as the metaverse. It includes many elements of blockchain-based digital worlds, including digital land, digital assets, and more.

The idea of creating a global gaming community with a play-to-earn model arose in 2018, when YGG co-founder and CEO Gabby Dizon noticed that blockchain games were gaining popularity in Southeast Asia. At that time, many users wanted to start playing the popular NFT game Axie Infinity, but they did not have enough money to buy in-game NFT characters called Axie.

Dizon realized that blockchain gaming could be a powerful tool for people in developing countries and began lending his Axies to other users who couldn't afford to buy their own. This inspired him to co-found Yield Guild Games with Beryl Lee in 2020 and help gamers succeed in the world of NFTs and blockchain games.

How does Yield Guild Games work?

Yield Guild Games combines decentralized finance (DeFi) and NFTs to create a metaverse economy on the Ethereum blockchain. YGG DAO is an open source protocol with rules based on smart contracts. The goals of this DAO include voting by the community to make governance decisions, issuing rewards, and facilitating NFT rentals.

YGG consists of several sub-DAOs (SubDAOs), which include groups of players from a specific NFT game or region of residence. Each such SubDAO has its own rules for managing the activity and assets of a particular play-to-earn game.

This model allows participants from the same NFT game to act together to maximize their in-game profits. It also allows guild members to rent and use community-owned NFT assets to earn in-game rewards. In doing so, those who lend their NFTs through the DAO can receive a portion of the players' earnings.

In YGG, all NFTs and digital assets are stored in the YGG treasury, which is controlled by the community. This treasury provides NFTs for each SubDAO and includes play-to-earn assets from several blockchain games.

YGG Scholarships

To get the most out of gaming NFTs, YGG DAO offers an NFT leasing program known as scholarships. This idea was originally proposed by the Axie Infinity community, which wanted to help both NFT owners and play-to-earn players.

In Axie Infinity, Axie owners can lend their in-game assets to new players in exchange for a percentage of their in-game rewards. This process is carried out using blockchain smart contracts in such a way that participants can only use the NFT in the game. Only their manager (owner) can still sell or transfer NFTs.

YGG provides scholarships to new players through a revenue sharing model and allows them to receive NFT assets to start playing and earn in-game rewards. Tenants do not have to invest money up front, but they do share a portion of their earnings with their managers. New players can not only receive NFTs, but also receive training and recommendations from community managers.

It's worth noting that YGG scholarships are not limited to NFTs in Axie Infinity. YGG Treasury also owns virtual lands in The Sandbox and League of Kingdoms, virtual cars in F1 Delta Time and other assets in play-to-earn games.

SubDAO

The YGG DAO mainly consists of SubDAOs - subdivisions of the DAO, that is, local communities within the main YGG DAO. These communities bring together players from a specific play-to-earn game or a specific region. For example, there is a SubDAO for Axie Infinity players, a SubDAO for The Sandbox players, a SubDAO for Southeast Asian players, and so on. Uniting users in SubDAO allows them to discuss current gaming strategies and help each other increase profits.

Each SubDAO has its own rules and conditions for using a particular game, but they all still generate income for the YGG DAO. Each SubDAO has its own community leader, wallet, and SubDAO token. Holders of these tokens can share the revenue generated in the game based on their contribution, as well as make suggestions and vote on SubDAO governance decisions, such as purchasing new in-game NFTs or asset management.

What is the YGG token?

Yield Guild Games (YGG) is an ERC-20 token that gives holders the right to participate in the governance of the YGG DAO. YGG has a total supply of 1 billion tokens, with 25 million sold in 2021 as part of the Initial Decentralized Offering (IDO) on SushiSwap. To support its members, the YGG community has allocated 45% of the total supply to be gradually distributed to users over four years.

Since YGG is the native token of the platform, it is used to pay for services within the network. It can also be staked to earn rewards in YGG vaults or used to unlock exclusive content on the YGG Discord channel. In addition, YGG holders can propose and vote on decisions regarding the guild's technologies, products and projects, as well as token distribution and overall governance structure. Proposals that win the vote and are implemented in the DAO will be rewarded with YGG tokens.

YGG Storage

YGG DAO's approach to yield farming is different from most DeFi staking platforms. Typically, tokens are staked to receive a fixed percentage. In YGG, each vault represents a token reward program for a specific activity that YGG is engaged in. For example, one vault may provide returns based on the performance of a scholarship program, while another vault rewards participants based on the Axie breeding program.

The YGG community also plans to develop a universal super-index store that will represent all income-generating activities in its ecosystem. This vault will reward stakers based on guild revenue from subscriptions, merchandise, rentals, treasury growth, and SubDAO index performance.

Owners of tokens can add them to staking activities they support and receive rewards proportional to the amount provided through YGG smart contracts. Depending on the storage conditions, rewards may include YGG tokens, Ether (ETH) and stablecoins.
