Universal Music Group and Google are reportedly in talks to license melodies and vocal tracks of artists for AI-generated songs, aiming to create a partnership between the music industry and Big Tech to manage the rise of deep fakes. The discussions are in early stages, with the goal of developing a tool for legally creating tracks with proper copyright attribution. Artists would have the option to opt in for their voices and music to be used. Warner Music Group is also said to be in conversation with Google for a similar product.
