Polygon Network Powers Real-World Blockchain Applications Polygon (MATIC), which is preparing for the launch of Polygon zkEVM and a possible rebranding to POL, is expanding its range of blockchain solutions for real-world problems. The latest announcement from Polygon Labs’ Twitter account revealed that the Indian government has selected the Polygon network to create caste certificates for its citizens.

Caste certificates are official documents that confirm the caste or community of a person in India. They are issued by the government to people who belong to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), or other Backward Classes (OBC). The certificates are used for various purposes, such as education, employment, and social welfare.

The government of Maharashtra, India’s second most populous state, is using the Polygon blockchain network to provide verifiable caste certificates through Zupple’s LegitDoc Web3 solution. Employers in Karnataka state have also started using these certificates to check the identities of their employees in a transparent and modern way.

Besides caste certificates, the Polygon network is also being used by both states to verify the education and health status of their citizens. Polygon offers a secure and transparent platform for handling sensitive data. Polygon has also been recognized by TIME magazine as one of the top 100 technology companies.

Polygon is not only working with governments, but also with other sectors that can benefit from blockchain technology. For example, the Mongolian National University uses the Polygon network to store digital diplomas as unique tokens called soul-bouns tokens (SBTs), which are immutable, unchangeable, and uncensorable.

Moreover, Polygon is collaborating with Lugano Plan B, the first city based on blockchain technology. Together with Tether, a USDT issuer, Polygon is developing a comprehensive system for the lives of people in a crypto-based city.
