Yesterday, Vitalik published a long article about Iris Coin and POP consensus. I would like to borrow the title to briefly talk about my views on WLD. Please tell me if it constitutes investment advice. #DYOR

📍Conclusion first: WLD has no new narrative, POP has great regulatory risks

1. Let’s talk about WLD first

Putting aside the conclusion, I would like to talk about my argument first: Why do we say that WLD has no new narrative?

At least I don’t see anything new in the white paper. Even as a set of authentication protocols, this authentication protocol is currently extremely dependent on devices and physical objects, which means that it cannot achieve sufficient coverage.

Most people are attracted by the aura of Open AI, but I want to say that this does not affect the possibility that WLD is garbage. I even think that the billion-dollar valuation of World Coin in the early days is even more ridiculous (not to mention the later ones), of course, this is also the price given by the capital market because of the aura of Open AI.

As far as the crypto industry is concerned, the deployment of WLD does not bring a new set of things, such as a unified and feasible identity protocol. Vitalik has proposed a technology for on-chain identity authentication in the past - SBT, which is a mess, and the long article he published about Worldcoin is also a bunch of nonsense.

But there is one sentence in it that I agree with: There is no ideal form when it comes to human proof.

At least not at the moment, because this involves regional policy issues, which is also the reason why WLD verification relying on equipment is doomed to be unsustainable in the long run.

  • (The pie is too big. As an old leek, you need to be more mature. Think about ICP. The ones on the top of the mountain are probably stinking now.)

2. Let’s talk about POP

A bold prediction is that a certain country/region will issue a statement before the end of the year: WLD is involved in information export security control, and will stop WLD and related businesses from developing in the region.

📍There is nothing new in this world. Let’s not talk about data leaks for now. Just based on encryption and demographic information, the founders will face a lot of lawsuits in the future.

The person who wronged you knows better than you why they wronged you. Anyway, once the hat of information security is put on you, it is difficult to take it off.

GF's tone is that it's hard to listen to your explanation of these things, not to mention that you are still very dissatisfied with encryption. Privacy encryption is nonsense. It's up to you whether to sue or not.

The scale has recently spread to Hong Kong. Without filing a record, I guess the Hong Kong government may be the first to take action.

3. ID trafficking

There is currently no effective regulation in this area, which means that it can indeed verify that you are a human, but it cannot prove that you are you. This is very interesting. It is still possible for a person to have multiple IDs.

  • Let me tell you a little story: Today, someone in the community said that we should promote WLD in China and go to rural areas to verify it.

  • I thought to myself: Damn, this is too bad! Not only did Didi and Tesla flash through my mind, but also #GMT

📍GMT's past is WLD's future, and GMT is even lighter

Equipment and policies mean that this method cannot be widely used, and the verification of on-chain projects is even more so. It can be said that any project that uses this method for identity verification will be dragged down.

I also saw that some projects have started using this thing, and it’s a social graph project. Great, great, really awesome (run 📍)
