How serious will the debt crisis in the USA become?
The unfunded liabilities that U.S. taxpayers will face over the next 75 years are estimated at $78.3 trillion.
According to the Treasury's financial report for the 2023 fiscal year, the U.S. will spend $215.7 trillion on Social Security and Medicare during this period.
Tax revenues for the same period are projected to be only $137.4 trillion.
The U.S. Treasury estimates that the funding shortfall over the 75-year forecast will reach $175.3 trillion.
For comparison, this is almost as much as all the expenditures since the adoption of the Constitution in 1787, even adjusted for inflation.
