Odaily Planet Daily News Samourai Wallet co-founder Keonne Rodriguez pleaded not guilty to two criminal charges in a Manhattan court on Monday related to the creation and marketing of a privacy-focused Bitcoin wallet application and coin mixing service. Rodriguez, 35, and his Samourai Wallet co-founder William Lonergan Hill, 65, were arrested last week and charged with one count of conspiracy to launder money and one count of conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money transmission business. The maximum sentences for these two charges are 20 years and 5 years, respectively. Prosecutors claimed that from 2015 to last week when Samourai Wallet's servers were seized, the app "facilitated more than $100 million in money laundering transactions on illegal dark web markets," with a total of about $2 billion in "illegal transactions." On Monday, District Judge Barbara Moses ruled that Rodriguez be released on $1 million bail, and his next hearing will be held in Manhattan at 2 p.m. on May 14. (CoinDesk)
