The proposal has sparked widespread concern about how the Swiss National Bank will respond. Swiss National Bank President Thomas Jordan expressed reservations at the central bank's annual meeting.
Thomas Jordan noted that while there are calls for legal reform to allow cryptocurrencies to be included in foreign exchange reserves, he still has concerns about buying Bitcoin. He said: "Bitcoin is not without risks, and we have not decided to invest in Bitcoin at the moment. Foreign exchange reserves are used for international payments and must remain liquid and sustainable, and can be bought and sold flexibly."
