Crypto speak: Sats

By now, you must have heard of Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin. They created the Bitcoin network that gave us the Bitcoin cryptocurrency.

Most of us don’t handle whole Bitcoin—mostly fractions of Bitcoin, or “sats.” A sat is the smallest Bitcoin unit, equal to 0.00000001 BTC. (Think of sats as pennies.)

Bitcoin was created to be divisible down to the eighth decimal point for users to transact in small amounts since the value of 1 BTC has risen to dizzying heights since its inception.
