[Crypto News] Are you paying attention to the new trends in Bitcoin open source development? 😉 Recently, the globally distributed Bitcoin development community decided to nominate five new BIP (Bitcoin Improvement Proposal) editors, the first time in Bitcoin history that more than one person has held this position. This role has been held solely by the controversial Bitcoin OG Luke Dashjr for the past decade. The new editors include Bitcoin developer and co-founder of Custodia Bank Bryan Bishop, co-hosts of the bitdevs.org mailing list Murch and Ruben Somsen, Lightning Labs CTO Olaoluwa Osuntokun, and Bitcoin Core contributor Jonatack. Behind this change is the bottleneck problem in editing BIP in the past few years. BIP is a standard for proposing non-binding software updates that will change the Bitcoin protocol in some way. In the past, because only Luke Dashjr served as BIP editor, he was the only one who could merge content into the BIP repository, which resulted in his workload being too high and unable to deal with various issues in a timely manner. The increase in editors means that Bitcoin's changes will introduce more possibilities. But it should be noted that the final implementation still requires consensus from multiple forces such as the community, miners, and code merge permission holders. Therefore, we will wait and see how this change will affect the future development of Bitcoin. So, what do you think of this change? Feel free to speak your mind in the comment section, let us discuss the future of Bitcoin together!
