in late 2023, the government of El Salvador began offering foreign individuals to donate one million US dollars in Bitcoin for El Salvador citizenship.
On April 7, 2024, the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, announced that they are offering free citizenship to 5,000 people in the country, and also that the government will impose zero taxes for the procedure of moving property.
With this free citizenship program, El Salvador aimed to attract highly qualified scientists, engineers, doctors, artists and philosophers from abroad to the country.
