Binance, the global blockchain ecosystem behind the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, held virtual law enforcement training for Ministry of Justice officers 'Interior of Cambodia as part of its global law enforcement training program.
Different themes were discussed during the session. Carlos Mak, a specialist from the Binance investigation team, shared the techniques used by Binance in its investigations into the cryptocurrency space. He also spoke about the investigation team’s collaboration with global law enforcement agencies to combat cybercrime.
“In order to strengthen the capabilities of our agents in cybercrime investigation, we are happy to have the Binance specialist provide us with advanced training on cryptocurrency tracing and sharing case studies. By strengthening our partnership with Binance, we hope to more effectively combat crime in the digital world. We hope to collaborate further with Binance and its investigative team,” said a representative of the IT department of the Ministry of Interior of Cambodia.
In 2022, Binance's investigative team responded to over 40,000 law enforcement requests, with an average response time of three days. Law enforcement agencies from more than 80 countries worked with the investigation team. Additionally, the team conducted more than 70 anti-cybercrime workshops for investigators and law enforcement agencies globally throughout 2022, and already organized more than 50 face-to-face and remote training courses in 2023.
“Many members of our investigative team have law enforcement experience, which allows us to understand the considerable time and effort required to learn new investigative techniques. By conducting these training sessions, we aim to significantly reduce the time and resource constraints faced by law enforcement agencies. Binance is committed to working with organizations like the Ministry of Interior of Cambodia to eliminate bad actors from the cryptocurrency space, to build a more secure blockchain ecosystem,” said Carlos Mak.
This training for Cambodian Ministry of Interior officials is the latest in Binance’s ongoing efforts to combat blockchain crime. The investigation team recently held a virtual knowledge sharing with the National Police Agency of Mongolia. She also supported a Digital Asset Investigation Course (VAIC) organized by the Police Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB). of Hong Kong (HKPF).
