♦️A story and a lesson♦️

My grandmother told me one day a wisdom that I will never forget. She said: “The greedy person must be exploited by a liar.” Memorize this wisdom, my son, and apply it in your life, and if you forget it, what happened to the farmer will happen to you when the shepherd deceived him. I said to her: How was that?

She said: It is said that, once upon a time, there was a farmer with many children, and he lived from what he could find on a small plot of land. He would plow it and plant some of the seeds in it, some of which he ate and some of which he sold. One day, while he was digging a hole to plant a tree in it, he found a pot of clay, and when he opened it, He found ten gold pieces in it, and he was so happy that it almost drove him crazy, so he started shouting loudly, “I found it. I found it.” A shepherd was nearby. When he heard him, he approached him and asked him: What did you find, peasant? He said, “I found ten gold pieces on this land of mine.” The shepherd said to him, “Let me see this treasure of yours. I am an expert in the quality of metals.” The farmer gave him the gold pieces. The shepherd turned them over in his hands and said, “Unfortunately for you, this is bad gold that has no financial value. But if you want, I can exchange it with you for five pieces.” It is made of good gold, and I will keep these pieces as antiques, as I am a collector of old antiques. The farmer thought carefully and became greedy for a fifth of the gold coins, and said to himself: This is my chance to get rid of these bad coins.

The two agreed on the deal, and the shepherd seized the spoils with his cunning.
