Cosmos founder @JaeKwon announced that he will lead the @CosmosHub fork.
If the fork launches, this could lead to the largest ATOM airdrop ever. This will resolve years of tension – which is great for the Cosmos Hub.
Here's what you need to know.
2/8
The first is the airdrop.
Jae called the new chain AtomOne (ATOM1).
The majority of ATOM1 allocations will be distributed proportionally to ATOM holders. It is unclear whether liquid ATOMs are included.
Obviously, those who voted in favor of Proposition 848 will receive a smaller amount of ATOM1.
3/8
But is ATOM1 valuable?
Yes.
Remember, Jae is a genius and many people still respect him very much. He invented IBC and Lispchain.
Also, consider the Bitcoin fork, BCH. Back in 2017, there were several attempts to overthrow BTC.

ATOM1 could be the JUNO of this cycle.
In the last cycle, JUNO was airdropped to ATOM at a ratio of 1:1 (with a maximum threshold). Due to speculation, 1 JUNO even exceeded the value of 1 ATOM at one point.
Jae’s ATOM1 also showed similar performance.
5/8
What is the current Cosmos Hub like?
The fork will be bullish.
Tensions have hampered the development of the Cosmos Hub over the years, most notably with the rejection of the ATOM 2.0 proposal in the fall of 2022.
Without Jae’s conservatism, the Cosmos Hub would be more innovative.
6/8
The fork also has positive implications for Cosmos DeFi.
DeFi is driven by speculation, and the fork of the Cosmos Hub chain will cause a huge speculative craze.
Trading volume between Osmosis and ATOM1 will increase significantly.
7/8
Is forking a good idea?
After all, the spirit of Cosmos is sovereignty and experimentation.
It would be a good thing if this fork resulted in a new Cosmos chain with a unique identity and culture.
The more chains the better!
8/8
It is unclear whether Jae will actually complete the fork. Also, there is no indication of any timeline.
If it does happen I think it would be very positive for the entire Cosmos ecosystem.
