In a shocking turn of events, another cryptocurrency founder and Bitcoin millionaire has been found dead. John Forsyth, an early supporter of Bitcoin and founder of Onfocoin, has been found dead after being missing for more than a week.

Circumstances surrounding Forsyth’s death

Forsyth was first reported missing about a week ago when the founder, who works as an emergency room physician at Mercy Hospital in Cassville, Missouri, failed to show up for work. After this, red flags went up as those closest to him revealed that the doctor would not have missed work no matter what. According to his partner, Forsyth sent a text in the morning, but that was the last they heard from him.

After being reported as a missing person, a search for the founder resulted in the discovery of his car as well as some of his personal belongings found in the park, including his passport, briefcase, cell phone and wallet. However, there was no sign of Forsyth.

Founder would be missing for a week until police found his body on Tuesday, May 30. His body was reportedly found in Arkansas, but law enforcement is still investigating the truth behind Founder’s disappearance and eventual death.

See Bitcoin for what it is

Forsyth first rose to fame in the cryptocurrency space when he was named a Bitcoin millionaire by Forbes. According to the Onfocoin founder, he discovered Bitcoin early on and mined Litecoin on the side, holding onto those coins for a long time.

Forsyth subsequently co-founded Onfocoin, a referral-based cryptocurrency project, with his brother and business partner Richard Forsyth. His son described his father as being very interested in cryptocurrencies and his crypto companies. However, his brother Richard said that the doctor did not seem to think about cryptocurrencies before his death. Although he believes that their involvement in cryptocurrencies "made them some enemies."

Forsyth’s death is the latest in a string of deaths of cryptocurrency founders that rocked the space last year. In 2022, Nikolai Mushegian, who was credited as one of the founders of MakerDAO, was found dead on a beach in Puerto Rico. However, no foul play was found in connection with his death.

Cash App founder Bob Lee was stabbed multiple times and died during surgery in early May 2023. Nima Nomeni, a technology consultant, is guilty of murder in Lee’s death and currently faces up to 26 years to life in prison if convicted.
