Bitcoin: what can happen if the identity of its mysterious creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, is discovered

There were different attempts to unmask his identity and many people who declared themselves as the creators of the cryptocurrency.

Satoshi Nakamoto is the pseudonymous person or group who created the Bitcoin cryptocurrency. However, there are no further details regarding his identity and therefore it remains a mystery around which there is a lot of speculation.

The name first appeared in an article published in 2008 that detailed how Bitcoin was designed. Satoshi is said to have remained active in the cryptocurrency until 2010. Nothing more has been heard about him since.

The mystery surrounding the identity of Bitcoin's creator has been a topic of discussion and speculation since the cryptocurrency's inception. However, the possibility of unmasking Nakamoto provokes intense debate within the crypto community and many speculate about the possible results for Bitcoin if the figure of its creator were revealed.

Since the creation of Bitcoin, there have been several attempts to unmask Satoshi Nakamoto, while also some people have come forward claiming to be the creators of the cryptocurrency. For example, recent reports about a court case in the United Kingdom involving Craig Wright drew attention to the elusive identity of Satoshi Nakamoto.

A UK High Court ruled last Thursday that Wright, an Australian computer scientist, is not Satoshi Nakamoto, despite his claims to the contrary. Wright was taken to court by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) to stop him from suing Bitcoin developers. COPA asked for a ruling that Wright was not Satoshi.

James Mellor, the judge presiding over the case, said there is "overwhelming" evidence that Wright is not Satoshi. “Dr. Wright is not the author of the Bitcoin white paper,” the judge stated. "Dr. Wright is not the person who adopted or operated under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto in the period 2008 to 2011," he added.
