The three major indexes of the US stock market opened lower, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.20%, the Nasdaq down 0.23%, and the S&P 500 down 0.26%. Bank stocks in the US region fell again, with Westpac Bancorp down more than 40%, Alliance Western Bancorp down more than 12%, and Zion Bank down nearly 9%. After First Horizon Bank and TD Bank terminated their merger agreement, their stocks fell more than 35%.
