OORT Vision: Providing Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence to Humans
Since 2023, AI technologies such as ChatGPT, Google's Gemini, and OpenAI SORA have begun to have a significant impact on our lives. Despite their influence, the complexity of their data collection and data usage and the potential inherent biases are not widely understood.

Consider an AI that is trained primarily on data from a specific population. This could lead to unintentional bias, highlighting the importance of diverse data for equity and inclusion in development.

As AI becomes more intertwined with our daily lives, building trust in these technologies is critical. Building this trust is similar to building relationships with people—it grows through time spent together, through understanding and interaction. By engaging with AI, understanding how it works, and ensuring it runs on unbiased and accurate data, we can deepen trust in its capabilities. This approach, which emphasizes transparency and diverse contributions, is essential to developing AI systems that are reliable and beneficial to everyone.

As we drive these advancements, OORT’s goal is simple: to build an ecosystem where trust is paramount, ensuring humans and AI can thrive together.

OORT Mission
OORT is a decentralized cloud designed to protect privacy and save costs. By integrating global computing and storage resources, OORT enables trustworthy AI solutions.

OORT proposes a new open and transparent way of developing AI, involving key stages such as data collection, preprocessing, model design, training, fine-tuning, and deployment. By inviting everyone to participate in these steps, we aim to move beyond the opaque "black box" view of AI and promote deeper understanding and collaboration in its creation. This approach aims to make the AI development process clear and inclusive, building trust through active contribution and participation.

How Centralized Artificial Intelligence (CeAI) Works

Let’s first look at the current centralized AI workflow (Figure 1). Companies such as OpenAI and Google operate in a highly centralized manner, using their own data centers and implementing opaque processes in their AI solutions. Users still don’t know how each stage of AI development is completed, and what data is used to train and fine-tune these models.

How Decentralized Artificial Intelligence (DeAI) Works
In contrast, OORT leverages blockchain technology to redefine each stage, as shown in Figure 2.

data collection
Users can easily contribute data using personal devices such as laptops and smartphones through the OORT platform while receiving input rewards.

Data preprocessing
With OORT computing, data preprocessing can be performed on user devices such as smartphones and PCs, ensuring data privacy. The processed data is uploaded to the decentralized cloud and its hash value is stored on the blockchain to ensure traceability and tamper-proof.

Model design
OORT allows and encourages community members and institutions to collaborate on the design of open source AI models, enhancing innovation and accessibility.

Model training and fine-tuning
Thanks to decentralized servers, OORT Compute provides cost-effective model training and fine-tuning.

Model deployment
AI models are deployed on personal devices such as smartphones and PCs to enable offline use and protect user data privacy. This allows users to access AI tools anytime, anywhere using the resources of their own devices.

OORT's approach to building a decentralized AI ecosystem stands out for its transparency and accountability. Unlike systems designed in isolation, OORT is built on a community-driven process - created by and for everyone. This approach invites everyone not only to observe, but also to actively contribute to the advancement of AI, ensuring it can be understood and shaped by diverse voices.

OORT Products
OORT offers three flagship products:

OORT Storage
It integrates global storage servers such as Seagate and Tencent Cloud to provide a decentralized object storage solution comparable to Amazon AWS S3, saving up to 60% of costs.

OORT calculation
By integrating user devices such as smartphones, tablets, and PCs, it provides AI data collection and preprocessing services, significantly reducing costs while ensuring data privacy. Coming in 2024!

OORT Artificial Intelligence
Provide enterprises and individuals with comprehensive, trustworthy artificial intelligence solutions that can be deployed on user devices.

In addition, OORT's decentralized cloud infrastructure consists of two core components: OORT Edge and Olympus Protocol.

OORT Edge
Custom designed edge nodes are dedicated for AI data computing and storage. By purchasing the edge node device - Deimos, individuals can easily become part of the OORT network as a contributing node.

Olympus Agreement
OORT has developed an open source first layer blockchain in-house. Its technical details and theoretical proof of performance can be found in the Yellow Paper. Olympus connects devices (public clouds, private clouds, smartphones, computers, etc.) around the world that join the OORT network. Its patented Proof of Honesty (PoH) consensus algorithm ensures that all nodes do what they are asked to do honestly and optimizes the network's resource allocation in a decentralized manner. Figure 3 shows the OORT architecture.

OORT’s position in the field of AI + DePin
In the competitive landscape of AI+DePin (decentralized physical infrastructure network), OORT stands out with a unique perspective. There are projects that specialize in AI data, such as Filecoin; projects that focus on AI model training, such as Gensyn; and those who focus on model algorithms, such as Bittensor.

While OORT can provide AI data storage services similar to Filecoin and model training services similar to Gensyn, what makes OORT different is our emphasis on "edge AI". That is, by connecting devices with limited computing power such as smartphones, tablets, PCs, etc., OORT can transparently implement data collection, preprocessing, and model deployment while protecting user privacy. This specialization lays a solid foundation for the future realization of a trustworthy AI paradigm.
