The first NFT collection from VKontakte, called CryptoSpotty, was sold out within an hour, according to a press release from the social network. Primary sales took place on the VK NFT platform, where tokens were purchased for rubles.
A total of 8 thousand NFTs were issued with images of Spotty the dog, a symbol of the social network. The mascot appeared on VKontakte in 2010 as a charitable gift. Then Spotty got into avatars, later into stickers, and now into NFTs.
Users could buy one NFT for RUB 379. or a set of three tokens for 849 rubles. NFTs were dropped randomly and were revealed after the end of sales.
The social network recorded huge demand for the collection, the report said. VKontakte intends to send all funds received from sales to the Attention Foundation for the restoration of an architectural monument - the Baka apartment building in St. Petersburg.
Considering the huge interest in tokens, the platform began preparing the next drop, VKontakte CTO Alexander Tobol said. Also, according to him, in the near future the social network will launch a marketplace with the ability to issue tokens, their primary and secondary sale.
According to the CryptoSlam platform, which tracks information about NFTs, the volume of secondary sales of CryptoSpotty tokens since their start on April 25 amounted to $18.1 thousand, of which $14.7 thousand accounted for $14.7 thousand in the last 24 hours. The most expensive this time was CryptoSpotty #7873, it was purchased for 89.9 MATIC ($89). The minimum price (the lowest price of one NFT in the collection, floor price) on the Rarible platform is 20 MATIC (about $20).
VKontakte launched the VK NFT service in December last year. It allows users to transfer digital tokens they already own to accounts on the platform. NFTs can be installed on an avatar or a special showcase in your profile.
