Reliability & Security
XION is built on the industry's most reliable and secure consensus framework (Comet BFT), inter-chain communication protocol (IBC), and developer toolkit (Cosmos SDK). This battle-tested infrastructure secures more than $50 billion in assets, supports millions of transactions, and remains stable in extreme market tensions. This allows XION to have instant finality as well as 10,000+ TPS, and is also trusted by some of the industry's largest projects, such as Binance Chain (BNB), Crypto.com (CRO), Injective (INJ), and DyDx (DYDX) recently switched to its own network.
The Inter-Chain Communication (IBC) protocol used by XION is objectively the most secure permissionless inter-chain communication protocol in the industry. This allows any combination of blockchains to exchange data and value between them, and serves as the basis for XION's connectivity. Additionally, the Comet BFT consensus framework allows XION to boast instant finality, fast confirmation times, and high throughput.
When building a platform not just for technologists but also for end users, our top priority was maintaining the security of XION users' assets while ensuring the availability of our products. The chain enabled by the Cosmos SDK has proven to be an industry leader for these metrics.
Development Flexibility & Speed
Tim Burnt, a core contributor to XION, realized that the success of the network would not be determined solely by the team, but by those who build on top of it. Likewise, the Cosmos SDK makes no assumptions for developers but instead provides defaults and suggested options that developers can choose, extend, modify, or ignore.
XION takes full advantage of this modularity. It is this modularity that allows XION to be a chain specifically designed for consumer adoption, while remaining interoperable across industries. Through its unique implementation of core modules combined with its own custom-built modules, XION offers developers a powerful and comprehensive toolkit for building the next generation of consumer-facing applications.

For example, while we don't always know what the future will bring - or what audiences will want a week, a month, or a year from now - we are ready to react quickly. The value of the Cosmos community is twofold.
First, the quality of engineering talent that has gone into the Cosmos SDK is unmatched. We have received help from and provided assistance to several teams, and fully embrace the “a rising tide lifts all boats” mentality. Cosmos has demonstrated time and time again its ability to produce breakthrough technologies that are then adopted by other industry participants.
Second, the IBC framework allows us to quickly incorporate other application chains and their associated features. For example, if a product requires private user state, we can connect to the Secret network. For DeFi, we have Injective and Osmosis chains. For fiat and non-cosmos assets, we have the Axelar and Noble networks, etc. This interconnected on-chain community allows us to make additional features available instantly to our audience, and paves the way for developers at XION to usher in a new era of adoption through unlocking new user cases.
