Ava Labs CEO Emin Gün Sirer told the Cornell Blockchain Conference that the blockchain and cryptocurrency space cannot consider itself mature until the day its regulators can read and audit the code. He also said that in order for the next billion users to use cryptocurrencies, several aspects need to be improved, such as scalability, ease of use, and adaptability. However, he was skeptical when asked whether a secret-sharing technology called zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP) could achieve that scale. He said: “If something doesn’t work today, there’s usually a good reason for it. ZKPs are an amazing technology, but they are completely unproven in terms of scalability. I have some friends who are working on it I wish them all the best with this. But if it does work, the lag is always going to be worse and I'm worried about a poor user experience.
