What is Taiko?
Taiko is a decentralized Ethereum equivalent of ZK-EVM and general ZK-Rollup. Its purpose is to allow developers and users of dApps developed for Ethereum Layer-1 to use on Taiko without any changes. As a result, dApps can be easily deployed to Layer-2, inheriting the security of Ethereum while incurring lower transaction fees than Layer-1.
To date, Taiko has received two rounds of financing totaling US$22 million, led by Sequoia China and Generative Ventures, with other investors including IOSG Ventures, GSR and GGV Capital.
Taiko Labs stated in its white paper that the introduction of Taiko tokens (TKO) is intended to reward block validators. In addition, with the mainnet expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2024, there will be potential airdrop opportunities at that time.
