On Saturday, 18th February, 2023, the Binance East African team visited the city of Kasese to host the first ever community meetup. The event which was held at TJ Global hotel, Kasese, was attended by 55+ people.
Here are major highlights from the event:
History of Money
The event started with Benson, a Binance angel from Uganda, who taught the audience about Money as a shared belief of value transfer, as well as the history of money through the ages.

Introduction to Blockchain technology and Cryptocurrency
Binance angel, Benson continued his explanation of cryptocurrencies by introducing the group to Bitcoin and explaining the distinction between Bitcoin and traditional currencies. Additionally, the class covered "The World of Blockchain," wherein attendees learned about blockchain applications and the technology's distinction from Bitcoin.

Introduction to Binance Ecosystem:
Shortly after a series of invigorating and mind-blowing Kahoot games during which players won highly sought-after Binance Swag Binance, Benson walked the audience through the Binance Ecosystem.
Key in this session included a rundown of Binance's history (including the year it was established), Binance’s mission, strategic priorities, and the Binance Ecosystem's products. He challenged the audience to engage as many products as possible to maximize the platform’s utility.

How to Register and verify a Binance account.
Binance Angel Moreen walked the audience through the process of registering and verifying a Binance account, explaining each step along the way, and ending with the best practices for completing the Know Your Customer (KYC) process on Binance.

How to Secure Your Account and Binance P2P
Rachel, the Community Manager for Binance in Uganda, conducted this session, and she shared with the audience the best practices to ensure account safety and security.
As a seasoned Binance P2P trader, the Binance Uganda community manager also instructed the group on P2P trading basics, including how to onramp and offramp fiat using P2P, how to sign up as a merchant, and best practices for running a successful P2P business on the platform.

Binance Earn.
Binance Angel Isaac took the participants through Financial products available on Binance Earn that the audience could leverage and take advantage of to generate passive and lifetime income.

Finally, Binance Angel Benson and the Binance Uganda Community Manager presented the various Binance programs to the attendees. These included the Affiliate program, Angel Program, and campus ambassador program.
Q&A Session
Binance community meet-ups like this are never complete without participation from the audience. Binance is strongly community-driven which attendees get a chance to ask questions, to provide feedback and to seek clarity on the different topics covered. During this session at the Kasese meet-up, the audience got a chance to ask their questions on the Binance ecosystem, cryptocurrency, and blockchain technology at large. They were indeed satisfied as all questions were answered appropriately.
After the formal engagements, participants and the Binance team had a great time during informal exchange and one-on-one interaction. Attendees also had the opportunity to redeem a Binance Proof Of Attendance Protocol (POAP) NFT and participated in the post meetup networking as well as photography.
