Odaily Planet Daily News: A U.S. judge asked Elon Musk to testify in a court filing on Saturday regarding its investigation into its acquisition of Twitter in 2022. The U.S. SEC is investigating whether Musk or others committed securities fraud in 2022 in the process of purchasing shares before its acquisition of the social media company. Elon Musk completed the acquisition of Twitter in October 2022 for approximately $44 billion and has since rebranded it as X. In an order dated February 10, 2024, federal judge Laurel Beeler wrote that although Elon Musk and his legal team believed that the SEC's subpoena in this matter constituted harassment of Musk, the federal financial regulator's request was "within its power" and their subpoena was "clear and sought relevant information" for the investigation. Federal financial regulators and Elon Musk now have a week to determine the date and location of his testimony. Elon Musk, his lawyers, and the U.S. SEC have not immediately responded to requests for comment. (CNBC)
