State Duma deputy Mironov has proposed raising the tax on closed-end mutual investment funds by 25%, calling them “toys for oligarchs.”
According to him, since 2020 the number of these “financial clubs” has increased fivefold, and the funds’ total assets have reached around 6 trillion rubles. He claims that fewer than 2,000 people use this investment vehicle—billionaires, as well as their wives, children, and mistresses.
The lawmaker stressed that closed-end mutual funds are set up for a small circle of people: as a rule, they have no more than one or two investors.
