Mortgage lending volumes in Russia fell sharply in a single month—by almost half. Banks issued a record 608 billion rubles in home loans in September, but in October the figure was just 308 billion rubles. The number of mortgage agreements signed also fell by 40%, to 75,500—the lowest level since June 2025. The decline is attributed to people having rushed to take out loans earlier, fearing an upcoming tightening of terms for family mortgages.
