Hyperliquid Buyback of HYPE: Why Are Investors Paying Attention?

On November 7, an OnchainLens report cited by TechFlow said Hyperliquid had repurchased around 21,040 HYPE, worth approximately US$1.64 million, over a 24-hour period.

Why is this interesting?

Hyperliquid has a protocol economic mechanism that directs a portion of trading fee revenue to the Assistance Fund to buy HYPE.

There are three things to understand:

1. Buyback: the protocol buys tokens from the market.
2. Burn: tokens are destroyed and are no longer available for use.
3. Supply pressure: buybacks can add demand, but their impact on price depends on market conditions and the number of tokens in circulation.

Don't assume that a buyback will automatically lead to a price increase.

The price of HYPE is still influenced by demand, liquidity, derivatives market conditions, and user activity.

Things worth monitoring:

- Daily buyback value.
- Protocol fee revenue.
- Changes in the Assistance Fund balance.
- HYPE price movements and trading volume.

In your opinion, is a buyback mechanism funded by protocol revenue more appealing than a token that relies solely on its narrative?
