【MEXC responds to FinCEN controversy: Special risk flag removed, deposits and withdrawals operating normally】

In response to concerns sparked by a recent order related to the U.S. Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), MEXC CEO Vugar Usi issued a statement outlining three key points:

1️⃣ Funds: Deposits and withdrawals on the platform have continued to operate normally. Although withdrawal volumes have risen recently, they remain orderly, and users’ assets are safe. The platform respects every user’s decision to withdraw their funds.

2️⃣ Compliance: Following discussions, blockchain compliance analytics firm Elliptic restored MEXC Global to the standard “Exchange” category in its system, removing the special risk flag previously applied.

3️⃣ Next steps: MEXC is seeking constructive dialogue with FinCEN and has launched an independent review of its anti-money laundering (AML) and sanctions compliance controls. It has pledged to provide ongoing updates.

One observation: Regulatory inquiries into exchanges are not uncommon in the industry. What really determines user confidence is how a platform responds—proactive dialogue, independent reviews, and transparent communication are far more effective than silence or a hard-line stance. The short-term rise in withdrawals is essentially a stress test of trust. FinCEN’s official position will remain important to watch. For everyday users, diversifying custody and limiting exposure to any single platform are always essential.
