Every ~4 years, the reward miners get for adding a new block is cut in half. That is called a halving.
📉 2009: 50 BTC → 2012: 25 → 2016: 12.5 → 2020: 6.25 → 2024: 3.125
Next halving: ~April 2028 → 1.5625 BTC
Why it matters: Bitcoin’s supply is capped at 21 million, and halvings slow down how fast new coins enter the market.
