Greece has approved a 10% tax on cryptocurrency capital gains, along with a separate 15% tax on income from staking and decentralized finance. Parliament passed the bill on November 5, with implementation planned for January 1, 2027. Reuters reported that annual cryptocurrency gains of up to €500 may be tax-exempt. Investors can carry forward eligible losses for five years to offset future taxable gains. Although the Finance Ministry proposed exempting crypto-to-crypto exchanges from immediate taxation, the tax treatment of these transactions remains undecided.
