gate introduces a new exchange security metric: can its cold storage cover all user funds if its hot wallets are compromised? Gate has rolled out Proof of Security (PoSEC), a framework designed to measure how much of its user assets could be covered by funds held in cold storage. The calculation is straightforward: PoSEC = Cold Storage ÷ Total User Assets × 100 Gate currently reports 104.58% coverage, meaning its cold storage holdings are valued at more than the total user assets included in the calculation. Why does this matter? Hot wallets remain connected to the internet, making them more exposed to online attacks. Cold storage keeps private keys offline, reducing that exposure. If an exchange's hot wallets were compromised, sufficient cold storage reserves could provide an additional layer of financial protection for customer assets. PoSEC builds on the idea behind Proof of Reserves, but focuses on a different security question: not just whether an exchange holds enough assets, but how much of those assets are kept offline. Proof of Reserves and Proof of Security address different risks. Both matter when evaluating how safely an exchange holds customer funds. #BTC Price Analysis# #Bitcoin Price Prediction: What is Bitcoins next move?# #Macro Insights# $BTC $ETH
