Just came across this: Europe’s largest asset manager is making a move too 👀
Amundi
With around €2.4 trillion in assets under management,
it has launched tokenized shares of its flagship equity index fund,
Amundi Core STOXX Europe 600,
directly on the public Ethereum blockchain.
Its partner is CACEIS,
which handles the tokenization infrastructure and transfer agency.
The fund tracks 600 European large-, mid- and small-cap stocks
and has around €22.8 billion in assets.
It’s still available through traditional channels;
the tokenized shares are an additional share class.
Actually, it already put shares of a money market fund on-chain last November.
This time, it’s moving from cash-like products to an equity index.
I took a quick look:
the tokenized equity market is around $4.24 billion.
US equity products still make up the bulk of it.
European asset managers are clearly trying to catch up.
I’ll make a note of it:
putting TradFi on-chain is becoming less and less novel.
