Crowded places always carry unknown risks.

Quiet places always hide opportunities waiting to take root.

Never chase the latest trends.

Don't do what everyone else is doing.

If you do follow the crowd, focus on taking part. Don't go all in.

1:No matter how certain it is or how good the opportunity seems, it’s never worth firing all your bullets—or even most of them.

2:Believe that crises are coming, and stay attuned to change. Wait until those who don’t believe in crises have narrowed their options, then step in and pick up shares at a bargain.

3:Keep repeating the signs of your luck and success: Heaven won’t let anyone be lucky in every way, all the time. The assets you’ve made money on before will most likely make you money again; the ones you’ve lost money on will most likely cause you even more trouble next time.

4:Know where you thrive and where you’re at risk. Go deep in the places where you thrive, and build and refine your own strengths. Don’t go to someone else’s battlefield to compete with them.

5:Don’t overexert yourself. Pushing too hard will kill your focus, force you to become increasingly short-sighted, and distort your decisions—ultimately causing you to fall short just before success.

6:Every move has a cost, and not every opportunity needs to be pursued. Preserve a reserve of attention and influence; this is a necessary kind of waste.

7:Luck needs a career to serve as its vehicle. The more crowded and chaotic a place is, the easier it is to find luck. Luck cannot bypass its vehicle and simply descend on anyone.

8:Make sure to set aside enough time each day for reflection. Summarize and distill good experiences; learn from bad ones and make corrections.

9:No extraordinary return is paid on the spot. Only the labor of society’s lowest tier is paid on the spot. If you want to accomplish something great, the less you earn in the early stages, the better.

10:When traveling a hundred miles, ninety miles is only halfway. The final half depends on your character, foundation, background, and temperament. If many of your companions have died along the way, make sure you’re the last one to die.

11:Where there are many people, there are always hidden risks.
Where there are few people, opportunities may be quietly taking root.
Never chase the latest craze.
