Russia is getting serious this time! Starting in December, BTC, ETH, and USDT will go straight onto a securities exchange!
In the past, when people thought about buying crypto, many thought of trading platforms like Binance and OKX.
Now the Moscow Exchange, Russia’s largest securities exchange, is also preparing to get in on the action.
Starting December 1, it plans to open trading in BTC, ETH, and USDT.
But there’s an interesting detail.
Ordinary investors will be allowed to buy no more than 300,000 rubles’ worth of crypto per year—about $3,700—and they’ll have to pass a test first.
More interestingly, the Moscow Exchange itself is under U.S. sanctions, yet USDT is on its trading list.
And Tether has a policy of freezing wallet addresses belonging to sanctioned parties.
I think what’s really worth paying attention to here isn’t that Russia is supporting crypto again, but that traditional finance is bringing crypto into its own trading system.
However, there may still be plenty of complications ahead involving the rules between exchanges, clearinghouses, and stablecoin issuers.
