Fidelity draws in $237 million in a day, while BlackRock sees $200 million flow out: Full Wednesday ETF data is here — November 5, 13:40

At midday, I wrote based on SoSoValue’s preliminary figures: Wednesday’s $BTC spot ETF net inflows were $35.11 million, but at that point only ARKB and BITB had reported; IBIT and FBTC hadn’t yet. The full data just came in (Farside, updated at 12:51 Beijing time), and the figure more than doubled — net inflows of $74.6 million for the day, officially putting an end to the three-day outflow streak totaling $1.16 billion.

The most interesting part is the divergence. Fidelity’s FBTC saw $236.7 million in net inflows in a single day. It usually sees only $20–30 million a day, and even the $103 million on October 13 was considered high. This time, it more than tripled that figure. On the other side, BlackRock’s IBIT saw $201.2 million flow out in a day. One big buyer and one big seller on the same day — institutions are divided, too. $ETH also turned positive, with $53 million in net inflows for the day (Farside figures; not all the breakdowns are available yet, so this is just the total for now).

My take: It’s good that the outflow streak has stopped, but don’t rush to declare that “institutions are back.” $74.6 million is barely a drop in the bucket compared with the $1.16 billion that flowed out over the previous three days, and IBIT is still seeing outflows. It looks more like some are buying the dip while others keep heading for the exits — a period of divergence. $BTC is now around $80,592, up about 3.7% over 24 hours, but still below the overnight high of $81,196. Until it clears that level, my midday assessment that it “held its ground and hasn’t gone far” still stands.

Risk reminder: ETF data is reported with a one-day lag. The next update will be the new data after the U.S. market closes today. There are also two data points tonight: the Bank of England decision at 20:00 and U.S. initial jobless claims at 21:30. Don’t focus only on ETFs.

Do you think FBTC’s $237 million inflow was dip-buying, or simply portfolio rebalancing?
