Crédit Mutuel Arkéa confirmed that it had suffered a cyberattack involving fraudulent transfers from bank accounts. The funds were subsequently converted into cryptocurrency through specialized platforms. On-chain investigator ZachXBT estimated the losses at more than $133 million and warned that the total could rise further. The bank acknowledged that the losses were roughly of that scale but did not disclose the exact amount. In a statement on Wednesday, Crédit Mutuel Arkéa said the incident was under control and customer assets had not been affected, although some transfers were delayed. The bank said some of the stolen funds had been frozen and that the amount involved would not threaten its financial strength.
