U.S. media: Vance “breaks” with Trump, seeks to form a “new coalition”

U.S. Vice President Vance posted a lengthy statement on social media, saying the Republican Party’s losses in the midterm elections were due to the U.S.-Iran conflict.
“If you want to argue that it was worth it, that losing the Senate for six years was worth it, go ahead,” Vance said. “The reason we failed is the war. Everyone knows why we lost.”

In his post, Vance pointed out that Republican voter turnout was not low. “But turnout isn’t the core issue. The real problem is that many voters who voted for Trump and me in 2024 voted for Democrats in the 2026 midterm elections.”

Vance said a well-known pollster asked voters who had “switched sides” what it would take to bring them back into the Republican camp. The four most common answers were: end the war, focus on the cost of living and inflation, stick to “America First,” and adjust relations with Israel.

Vance offered a “harsh reassessment” of the U.S.-Iran war, but things may not be as simple as they seem.

Fox News reported that after the Republican Party’s crushing defeat in the midterm elections, Vance is seeking to form a “new coalition” of voters dissatisfied with Trump ahead of the 2028 election. Vance’s “first step” was to “break” with Trump on foreign policy and U.S.-Israel relations.

A source familiar with the post-election situation said the White House held a meeting on Thursday morning to coordinate messaging among all government officials following the midterm elections. Vance then published his lengthy statement.

A Trump administration official said the four answers Vance cited were a call to action aimed at the “New Right.”

However, the official made clear that Vance was not trying to distance himself from Trump. Rather, Vance was sending a clear message to Republicans who support Trump but disagree with his foreign policy or feel betrayed by him. The message was: “Vance is the person we’re looking for.”#美国中期选举:市场有哪些期待? #美国10月非农出炉:降息还有戏吗? #特朗普家族支持矿企三季度盈利
