Hong Kong Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui said that Hong Kong will soon launch an interbank gold token trading scheme. He said each gold token is intended to represent one standard 400-ounce gold bar. The scheme will operate under the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s “Ensemble Project,” using the Hong Kong Gold Reference Price (HAU) as its pricing benchmark. Hui also said that HKEX plans to launch a blockchain-powered multi-asset tokenisation platform and pilot trading in tokenised carbon credits.
