Binance co-CEO Richard Teng said the crypto industry must learn from the $6.3 billion hack that Binance suffered. Teng said the months-long attack involved fake job offers, AI tools, and a new Ethereum feature that allowed transfers to continue even after Binance suspended withdrawals. Ethlabs researcher Derek Chiang believes EIP-7702 accelerated the theft but was not itself flawed. Binance said the exchange has recovered 98% of the affected assets and rebuilt its wallet system. If an independent review confirms that the attackers breached the transaction-signing system, the risk lies in the exchange’s custody design, not just the new feature.
