Tron founder Justin Sun said on November 3 that his lawyers had requested sanctions against World Liberty Financial and its lawyers for delaying disclosure of foreign ownership information. Sun accused the cryptocurrency company, backed by President Donald Trump, of concealing information about its UAE nationality to avoid a federal lawsuit involving Sun’s $45 million investment. World Liberty Financial argued that the UAE nationality of the parties meant the federal court lacked jurisdiction because both sides in the lawsuit involved foreign parties. Sun said he would take the investment dispute to a California state court after a federal judge considered the sanctions request. World Liberty Financial had previously denied Sun’s fraud allegations and accused him of misconduct in a separate defamation case.
