Tax delayed again
On November 4 local time in South Korea,
ruling party leader Kim Min-seok formally proposed
that the government delay the virtual asset income tax again.
It was originally set to take effect on New Year's Day next year.
If this proposal goes through,
it will be the fourth delay.
First, establish a basic law for digital assets,
then give businesses and investors some time to adjust.
The tax rate remains about 22% after the tax-free allowance.
But this is still just a proposal from the ruling party—
it has not become a government decision,
and the final outcome still depends on party-government talks.
If the tax bill hasn't been finalized yet,
don't plan as if it will definitely take effect next year.
