$ZEC ’s daily volatility has compressed to an extremely narrow range by recent standards; the first level to watch below is 1118.

Zcash futures flows plunged 859% in a day, wiping out a batch of long positions, yet funding rates are still positive. Longs are still paying to hold their positions. During a compression phase, who’s paying matters more than where the price settles.

Daily Bollinger Band width has fallen to a very low percentile by recent standards, with the price tracking near the lower band. Daily volatility is still there: ATR remains close to 10%, and intraday swings are possible; they’re just contained within a narrow range.

Narrow band width has no inherent direction. It only tells us that over the past twenty days, no one has been able to push the daily price outside the bands. A squeeze doesn’t choose a direction by itself; money does. So it’s important to see who’s paying, and who’s still holding on after just being swept out once.

On November 3, daily volume rose to 1.5 times the average for the preceding period. The price dipped to 1121 intraday, then recovered to close at 1204. Buyers absorbed the dip, but the close remained below the moving averages, and the rebound couldn’t push back above them.

I lean toward this compression resolving downward. The moving averages remain bearishly aligned, MACD formed a death cross today, and the histogram continues to expand below the zero line. The rebound lifted the price back to the middle of the bands, but not outside them.

1118 is the 12-day low, and the key boundary that the compression range needs to hold. From the current price, it’s less than one daily ATR away—reachable in a day. Once it gets there, the compression will open up, leaving time to react for the move that follows.
