🧠 WHAT IS BLOCKCHAIN AND WHY IS IT CHANGING THE WORLD?
You’ve probably heard of blockchain, but do you really know what it means?
Let’s explain it as simply as possible.
🔹 WHAT IS BLOCKCHAIN?
Imagine a digital ledger where all transactions are recorded.
The difference is that this ledger doesn’t belong to a bank or a company. It’s distributed across thousands of computers that participate in the network.
Each group of transactions forms a block, and these blocks are connected to one another, creating a chain.
That’s where its name comes from: BLOCKCHAIN.
🔹 WHAT MAKES IT SO INTERESTING?
1️⃣ Decentralization: it doesn’t depend on a single institution controlling all the information.
2️⃣ Transparency: anyone can view transactions on a public blockchain.
3️⃣ Security: changing historical records is extremely difficult because the blocks are connected cryptographically and the network must validate any changes.
🔹 AND WHAT DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH CRYPTOCURRENCIES?
Bitcoin uses blockchain to record its transactions without needing a bank as an intermediary.
Ethereum, on the other hand, uses its own blockchain to do something more: run smart contracts and decentralized applications.
💡 AN IDEA TO REMEMBER:
Cryptocurrencies are one application of blockchain technology, but they’re not the same thing.
Blockchain is the technology. Bitcoin and Ethereum are two projects that use it in different ways.
❓ QUESTION FOR THE COMMUNITY:
Do you think blockchain will eventually become as important to our daily lives as the internet is today?
I’ll be reading your comments! 👇
