Aztec has launched the Tierra upgrade for its privacy-focused Ethereum layer-2 network to address a critical vulnerability discovered in the previous version. The Aztec Foundation said Tuesday that Tierra, codenamed Alpha V6, adds formal verification and strengthens security. Aztec said that client-side proving for private transactions now takes about one second on ordinary devices—twice as fast as before. The new architecture reduces the time it takes Ethereum to send messages to Aztec from an average of two minutes to as little as 12 seconds. The launch also includes a batch of private apps for payments, trading, AI, and social activity, including the relaunched zk.money.
