Last night, I had my old GTX 1050 Ti graphics card mine a small PoW coin all night. When I checked in the morning: one solution came out every few seconds, the total amount mined across the network each day was capped, and everyone was competing for it.
I have one rule: I won’t put in any money beyond the electricity bill. I sell the small amounts I mine; I don’t hold them. I suspect some of the buy orders on the order book are being propped up by the project team itself. The pool is thin, so even a small sale can move the price.
The lesson from another project yesterday was the same: if a contract gives someone the right to open the pool early, I assume it’s best to stay away.
With this kind of “free hashpower” setup, would you leave your computer running all night for a coin nobody knows whether it’s worth anything?
Just my personal notes, not investment advice. DYOR.
