Don’t panic over the Binance hot wallet security incident—stay calm and let things play out for a while…

1️⃣ The incident has been officially confirmed, and users have been explicitly assured that their funds are safe, with a commitment to full compensation. Binance has a SAFU user protection fund (worth around $1 billion) as a backstop, and its regular PoR reports show ample reserves (BTC/USDT are both overcollateralized), so its short-term solvency is not in question.
2️⃣ The attack method was relatively novel: on-chain analysis points to the malicious exploitation of an authorization signature (EIP-7702), rather than a conventional direct leak of private keys. It’s a reminder that the industry’s security practices need to evolve, but it doesn’t mean the exchange custody model as a whole has failed.
3️⃣ Stablecoin issuers have urgently frozen around $1.8 billion worth of related USDT/USDC, and Binance has also suspended withdrawals on the affected chain to conduct security checks—these are risk-control measures, not signs of a bank run.
